I tried this and got an error message, saying the iphone data could not be found?
and my phone restore from a back up and is now an empty shell :S

Any ideas?

i tried to follow the given instructions. but i think these steps will only work if both the iPhones are same in version, i.c, the backup things may have some compatibility issues. i have to restore contact list from a 3gs backup to a 2g phone. need some assists.

Not sure if this will work, but here’s what I’d try:

Move the backup folder of your wife’s phone out of the backup directory, then on the phone go to general settings and erase all content. When it reboots, plug it into iTunes and I assume it will ask if you want to set it up as a new phone, or restore a backup from yours.

This might work, if not you can move the backup back and restore it to the way it was before you started!

No guarantees, but that’s how I’d attempt it.
